1 Peter 5:7 by pepperbunbun 1 Peter 5:7 by pepperbunbun
This drawing is more of a personal one for me. About a year ago I was thrown into a really difficult period of my life that I had absolutely no control over. Without even realizing it, I had taken everything upon myself and tried to control everything, thinking Id been giving it all to God but in reality I was holding on with tight fists.

Completely stressed out and at my breaking point, I talked to my youth pastor one night and it really made me realize how much Id placed on myself. He shared 1 Peter 5:7 with me and told me this burden was not mine to carry. He asked me to hold out my hand, and look at it. Then he said, Whenever you feel like holding on and taking everything onto yourself, look at your hand and remember that Hes the one that died on the cross. Hes the one who can carry this.

1 Peter 5:7 has become one of my favorite verses because God showed me what it means to live out giving Him my anxiety, and resting in the promise that Hes always with me and works everything together for good.

Tools used: graphite pencils (6H, 4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), PrismaColor pencils, tissue and tortillans for blending, reference picture of my hand. Male hand stock by =Fairiegoodmother - [link]

Hits home with me. I can relate. But while it's hard to have anxieties like that, or that much pain from so much worry and pressure, God brings so much good out of it. It's in those moments of struggle that He draws nearest, and it's easiest to feel him holding you so tight, telling you you're not alone. So much beauty can be brought from suffering, and look what you've made! Now maybe people can see this picture and think, yeah, that relates to me! God Bless, you are a very talented artist :)

Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. :( Hang in there! I'm still facing the same situation that made me draw this picture over a year ago. Things haven't changed much, but something God's taught me is that sometimes He doesn't miraculously change people and circumstances; He uses these times as opportunities for us to hold on to Him. Even when things are hard, God can ALWAYS bring good out of it, even if all that may be is Him changing your heart. Praying for you--don't lose hope!

this reminds me of something a friend of mine said. He said, "Anxiousness is illegal for the children of God." Being anxious is ILLEGAL for those who trust and obey God. You CANNOT live in a place of anxiousness and have God working in your life at the same time. You need to let all of your cares go and give them to God. He will take your anxiousness and help you through the tough times and through this you will learn to lean on him through whatever life throws at you. God Bless!!!! :D

very lovely! and your faith makes me happy! :) just a thought, really the piercing was made in his wrist, because in the Bible it says that his hands were nailed to the cross, but the Hebrew word for hand also included the wrist, and if he had been pierced in his palm his whole hand would have been torn apart because of the bones and the wieght of his body. Anyways this is just me throwing information at you, the picture is awesome and the meaning behind it is amazing! glad to hear that you have given your burdens to the Lord :)

Thank you so much! :aww: I always debate where to put the "pierce" mark whenever I do a drawing of Christ's hand...I know He was most likely pierced through the wrist, but I thought for this particular drawing it would be more significant to place it on His palm. Thanks again for your comments and God bless! :D
